Dave has a column in the bimonthly ‘Now Age’ magazine, Mystic Pop.  Other authors in this magazine include Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsh, and JZ Knight. The current column is in article format, but it began as question and answer. The following are examples of those.

Dear Dave,
My name is Devra Ann Jacobs, I am the owner/publisher of Mystic Pop Magazine and I would like to test you a bit before I agree to print this column in my magazine.

About 9 years ago I fell down an entire flight of stairs and had to have my left foot/ankle rebuilt. I had torn many of the ligaments and tendons in my foot. The Doctors told me I’d never walk again and I scoffed at their opinion. Thanks to Massage Therapy, Surgery, and a strong belief in self healing I am doing fine most of the time, but lately and seemingly out of nowhere the pain returns

I’m forced off my feet for about 5 days until I can walk again. I’m trying to lose some weight and this doesn’t seem to help. The pain is aggravated by putting weight on my left foot. I feel it may also have something to do with the pressures of finances around the magazine and family commitments. What do you think?

Dear Devra,
Your putting weight on that foot is metaphorical for the weight you are carrying. You have been trying to lose weight literally, and in addition, reduce some of the burden you’ve placed upon yourself being the owner/publisher of Mystic Pop Magazine.

This Perspective has caused an energetic blockage. Like water not getting through the bent garden hose, you need to un-bend your insular thought process to let the energy flow.

All burdens are opportunities in disguise. If you take the focus off your own situation and refocus on the good you are doing for the world, the pressure, and the ‘weight’ will begin to reduce itself immediately. Advertisers will pay you ahead of time and in full! But even more empowering in your reversal of symptoms toward ultimate healing is what caused the initial fall 9 years ago.

Thoughts, therefore energy don’t go away unless you work on them. I’m sensing you had a fear of being broke. Remember that fear produces a reality and words are very powerful in manifesting physical matter. Broke produces…broken! As in a broken foot!

The foot also ‘supports’ you, and as the left side of the body is the Yin/Feminine. The support of you being a single Mother manifested into your physical body. Recognize your daughter for the gift she really is, and embrace her for all she’s given you—including what may have at times seemed like a burden.

Dear Dave…
I've been enjoying the magazine. Since May of 2003, I've had a constriction in my left ear drum originating from an infection. I've battled vertigo ever since that time. The dizziness and vomiting are debilitating. I have lost about 70% of my hearing in that ear and there is a constant hum. I now have some relief from the dizziness and nausea with homeopathic remedies, but have not been able to reverse or resolve this condition. Any ideas about this? Thanks! –Joy

Dear Joy…
Thank you for writing! The left side of the body holds the yin, or the feminine energy. A loss of hearing usually indicates that somewhere in your past, you had a communication breakdown.

An infection can only manifest if the immune system has been compromised somehow. (Even the most serious of allegedly communicable diseases do not affect everyone they come in contact with.) Therefore, we must ask ourselves, What causes the immune system to compromise? And the answer, is a reduced sense of self-esteem.

Vomiting is your body’s response to repression of toxicity—either emotional or physical. Dizziness of course, is related to energetic imbalances in the cerebellum, however that is not a cause; merely a symptom. Let’s put these together now.

I’m feeling that about three years go, roughly a year before the symptoms started, you had some kind of fallout with a woman. She is older than you, and even though she may have had your best interests at heart, it was not perceived by you as such at that time.

This seems to be part of an energetic pattern that began about two decades ago, where your ego has not allowed you to see, or hear, beyond its own illusionary self. By soul-level listening, you can hear another’s voice and intention with clarity. By ego-level listening, that voice of others is skewed, if not blocked altogether—either consciously or unconsciously. That ego-level listening took things personally, and your self-esteem began a rapid (all things relative) decline in the ability to fight off infections. Too much of this will cause an energetic imbalance in the left ear, and the result is the “constant hum” you describe. (I’m also feeling an energetic weakness in the throat area - perhaps sore throats or coughing have been recurrent?)

Knowing this is the cause, it is easy to see you need to work on listening from the soul, and not from the ego. Continue the Homeopathics, and over a period of time, really feel the communication rift begin to close up with her. Meditate on opening up the throat chakra, and really work on meaning what you say and saying what you mean—better communication skills need to be practiced until they are second nature. Let others finish their sentences, and think before you speak or act, as opposed to speaking and re-acting. This will begin to reduce the hum dramatically at first, and then I’m feeling your body will actually resent the quick change.

This again is the work of the ego; not wanting to let go of the hurt. In some circles it would be called a healing crisis, but I’m going to invite you to look at it as an opportunity to really experience the most powerful healing energy there is, and that doesn’t cost you anything—compassion and forgiveness. Not old school forgiveness, which just says to let someone off the hook, but true forgiveness, that which can only be born from the soul.

This is of course detailed in my book, the reading of which will assist and guide you in minimizing that ego-inspired energetic dam toward full healing. Best of luck, and let me know how it goes, - Dave.

Her response by email:
Dear Dave,
Oh My gosh, thank you. I'm printing this out and ingesting your insights.
Love, Joy

Her follow up letter:

Dear Dave,
I recently bought the July/Aug issue of Mystic Pop and was thrilled that you were able to use the wonderful letter that you wrote to me about the vertigo. It then was doubly helpful for me to read your writing again in the magazine because I tackled the inquiry as to what is soul listening. I will continue to let it unfold for me. Meanwhile, the vertigo is generally better and less intrusive…This feels so right to open up to. Thanks again for your help and insight.

Love, Joy

Dear Dave,
I’m a 43-year old PhD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania studying Biological Sciences. I’ve worked on cadavers in a Hospital, taught Evolution in Colleges, etc., and have yet to find any evidence of a soul or any underlying energetic field of consciousness, much less divinity micromanaging my every move. And yet I find myself here because no one else has been able to help me.

Your responses to Devra and Gina in the February column caught my eye—my eye rolling that is. Though I’m highly skeptical, it seems you’ve been able to help others so I figured, “Why not?”

I’ve had an indeterminable Sciatic type of pain in my right leg since I was 14 years old. It’s a dull, throbbing, and chronic pain that only hurts when I drive, stand, or sit, and is worsened when I think about it. If I’m active either swimming, walking or even playing basketball there’s no sensation of pain, and my range of motion is as good as in the left leg.

Over the last 29 years I’ve tried countless Medical Doctors and most prescribed medication and physical therapy. Chiropractors said I had subluxated vertebrae. Thinking it might be muscular I tried Massage Therapy. My friend convinced me to try Acupuncture.

Scratching my head I then found myself in the office of a Spiritual Healer who told me I didn’t like driving—I LOVE driving! He seemed to make things up on the spot, none of which were true. I’m stumped. Okay ‘Medical Intuitive’, tell me what’s going on.
–Marc

Dear Marc,
The first thing that caught my (non-rolling) eye was NOT that you had a pain in your right leg, but that you had a pain in your right leg when you “drive, stand, or sit.” As the mind and body are connected, whatever thought patterns you’ve had, no matter where they come from or for how long, affect something or someone somewhere.

Thought patterns deeply ingrained that may be called “deconstructive” ultimately cause pain and illness. I’m not calling this Sciatica, or any other traditional diagnosis, I’m calling it a “drive, stand, or sit still” problem, AKA an issue with physical stagnation.

What does stagnation mean to you? Do you feel you’re missing something by not being active or on the go at all times? Are you racing an imaginary clock to get there, do this, or attain that?

The right side of the body is the masculine energy; I’m picking up that your Father instilled in you a “go, go, go!” trait that though useful in a competitive scientific world, or when playing organized sports, can be causing pain when not moving your body. I’d say that your leg and you are unhappy just sitting there!

In my reality, you have a stagnation issue—not Sciatica (which is a symptom, not a cause), not a tight Piriformis Muscle (thought that symptom may exist as well), not a pinched nerve (also a possible symptom), or any other disempowering diagnosis or explanation you may have heard.

Is this information scaring you or empowering you? If you choose the latter you can “run with it.” You can recreate a healthy leg by learning present-moment mindfulness; being okay with doing nothing, even if for just a little while. Get out of your own way, and learn to be still by appreciating all that’s around and within you (you’ve seen our “insides” as well as anyone).

Have reverence for what is happening at THAT particular moment, even if what is happening at that moment is nothing at all (which in an ever-evolving world is impossible), then reflect upon it in silence. Becoming okay with physical stagnation will re-create a healthy leg from the Quantum and Spiritual, um, I mean, the Chemical and Molecular levels.

Oh, and good luck in looking for the soul. Hint: it’s always in the last place you look.
